Bad Experiences

This is not the first bad experience I had all these days, but I believe this is one worth sharing.

I just had one of the worst nights this year, especially if someone wants to hurt you for a mere space in a train.

I was waiting for an MRT train that night, and it was not really a pleasant sight to behold - two trains had passed in front of me, and all of them are packed with people. The train carriages were so tight that not even a single sardine can fit in. Worse, I am not alone: there are a number of people who are lined up behind me, and I could not get myself to assert my right to being first in line. I really hate it when the code of chivalry (or chauvinism, for those radical few) runs through my mind, allowing the women to take the small spaces that I should have taken for myself.

Then came the third train. The carriages was jam-packed as always, but there was one thing about that time, and that was I was alone in the line, like a speck of dust that was left from a recently wiped table top. The small space that can be created with a little, well, assertive pleading was rightfully mine, I thought to myself.

Then, the unexpected happened.

When I was about to enter the jam-packed carriage I got dragged out by an unknown guy by pulling the back collar of my shirt. Worse, he struck the right side of my stomach with his knee, turning me around like a figurine that was tipped over, and causing me to fall face down. That particular blow gave me a horrendous feeling that one of my innards (possibly my liver) was folded in half and was writhing in pain. And, worst of all, I did not manage to see the person who did it - the train was already leaving by that time I could manage to turn my view around.

It is just a good thing that willing Samaritans wearing security guard uniforms assisted me. They helped me stand up, dusted off the dirt that got stuck on my shirt, and even asked me if I needed medical attention.

Being the one who is used to getting hurt in the years of youth, I simply said I'm fine and that I just want to get home as early as possible.

Then one of the guards described to me what the unkind person looked like - he is not a big person (compared to me), but he looked like a felon and he has dreadlocks for hair.

So much for the "Bob Marley for peace" shirts. And the pain in the back is still there.

Holiday

It is the freedom where everyone
Lets go of their worries
Knowing that they need not
Think of such things
And thus they resort to do
Everything that they please
But, alas, their thoughts have
Fleeted away
Like a migrant bird that has
Lost track of its path
And find itself lost forever
They only see the freedom
But not its purpose
What should be the purpose
Of this freedom if
Its guidance has been lost behind
In the stampede within the mind...

Asylum

You once felt safe
Secure, protected
In this haven of yours

But it never came to your mind
That you are all
Alone, abandoned

While you believed your speech
That powerful speech
Had marked in everyone's thoughts

All you really did was to
Escape, flee
Your own mortal terrors

And when you did think
About how foolish your hiding was
You started to shiver

You then imagined what will
Your friends might do
Without your presence

And then you felt anxious
First tearful, then forlorn
Harrowed by your own obstinacy

And so you screamed
Squealed as you realized
The dark room you are in

Is truly a shadowy hell
Made to silence your voice
And you have nowhere to run to
Because you abandoned
Everyone

Toothache

In your attempts to be gentle
You feel so much sublime emotions

Then, in a split second
Faster than light can travel

All of tranquility is shattered
All of your efforts crumbled
Like a pyramid of cards so delicate
Being blown by winds unwanted

And you start to scream in horror
Searching for someone to stop the terror

For All Those You Hold Dear

The gentle breeze, the fair weather
They're but nothing compared to
Spending some time with you...

But how come that, like a starved wolf
Who left his pack to feed himself,
You no longer shared time with me...

The gentle breeze, the fair weather
They're but useless phenomena
Failing to comfort me in my loneliness...

But I have always, like a fox whelp
Hungry for his mother's caress,
Wanted to share time with you...

The gentle breeze, the fair weather
They're but reminders of how
I am all alone and lonely today...

But I still hope that you will
Come and share time with me
Before I succumb to my sleep...

Who You Must Fear

As a regiment of musketeers are
Marching towards their battlefield
In what they believe as the final one
One of the youngest at the rear stopped
And looked back at their camps.

The captain noticed him and,
Pulling his reins to make his horse turn around,
He went back to approach the young one
And ordered him, "Get 'yer sorry ass
Movin' we'll fight a bloody battle."

The young musketeer replied,
"I was just thinking, captain,
If ever I'll be able to return to camp
With all my limbs intact
And all my fingers at place."

"It doesn't matter, lad,"
The captain replied,
"'Cause all you have to do is to
Believe in winning 'yer own battle
For our beloved motherland."

The young musketeer asked,
"Aren't you afraid of bloodshed, captain?
Haven't it entered in your mind
That we should not be fighting this war,
That there should have been any other way?"

The captain chuckled and answered,
"What'r you sayin', lad?
As much as we hate losing others in battle
We learn so much by fighting in them.
Haven't ye ever asked 'yerself
Why in these times of conflict
That we start to realize what are
Valuable to us as men?"

The captain reached the back of
The young musketeer's head and
Slapped it, and continued,
"One's courage can be used
Both during and after war, lad.
If you survive this, you'll be
Most enlightened. Now get 'yer legs
Movin' and go back to your line!"

The young musketeer stood tall,
Saluted his captain with his musket
And yelled, "Yes, Captain!"

Inferno

Whenever students these days hear the word "first"
The first thing that comes in mind
Is not the mental thirst
But rather, "They are cursed"
Finally ending studies, they want to find

Whenever youngsters these days hear the word "first"
The first thing that enter their heads
Is not, "All the worst"
But instead, an outburst
Of emotions so wild they can rip things to shreds

Whenever the faithful these days hear the word "first"
Of course, the creation story comes in without fade
But the bubble has been burst
And reality showed its worst
And so they wonder if fixes can still be made

And whenever foul leaders these days hear the word "first"
They think of wealth, so easy to corrupt
But woe, they have been cursed
And the oppressed, they thirst
And, luckless to all, undirected rage will erupt
